humidity testing

Humidity

The purpose of this test method is to assess the resistance of materials to the effects of a warm, humid atmosphere.

This method applies to materials that are likely to be stored or used in warm, humid environments, where high humidity levels are common, or to identify potential issues related to humidity. While it is ideal to test materials in natural environments that reflect the conditions they will experience, this may not always be feasible due to logistical, cost, or scheduling constraints.

Warm, humid conditions can be present year-round in tropical regions, seasonally in mid-latitude areas and in materials exposed to varying pressure, temperature, and relative humidity levels.

Materials enclosed in non-operating vehicles in warm, humid areas may also experience high internal temperature and humidity conditions. Additionally, elevated humidity levels can be found globally.
